UNARMED SECURITY GUARD
GENERAL TRAINING REQUIREMENT
FOR UNARMED SECURITY GUARDS
Applicants for an unarmed security guard
registration shall complete a basic training course for unarmed security guards
within 80 days from hire consisting of a minimum of four hours of classroom
instruction including:
1. State General Statutes (where they work).
2. Report writing.
3. Legal aspects of an unarmed security guard.
4. Controlled substance identification and
handling.
5. Deportment.
FUNCTIONS OF UNARMED
SECURITY GUARD
Security Guards perform one or more of the
following functions:
1. Prevention or detection of intrusion, entry,
larceny, vandalism, abuse, fire, or trespass on private property;
2. Prevention, observation, or detection of any
unauthorized activity on private property;
3. Protection of patrons and persons lawfully
allowed to be on the property; or
4. Control, regulation, or direction of the
flow or movement of the public, whether by vehicle or otherwise, only to the
extent and for the time directly and specifically required to assure the
protection of properties.
GENERAL
RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Attention to Duty
Security guards demonstrate interest in their
work by remaining attentive to duty. Make suggestions to better your place of
assignment.
B. Orders
Security guards must abide by all requirements
of their company as stated in handbooks and administrative instructions.
Additionally, most work sites have post orders. Be sure to keep up to date on
the requirements of your job. Ignorance of published work requirements is never
a defense for poor work performance.
C. Emergencies
When confronted with a fire, medical or law
enforcement emergency, it is always the first responsibility of the Security
guards to contact appropriate responders. If the Security guards has received
appropriate training, then they can attempt to render assistance.
